Have you ever felt your life drifting, your time slipping away, and yet you have so much you want/need to accomplish? What's holding us back?
I've always felt that there was never enough time to 'do' my art. Raising a family was a priority, staying current in my teaching career was a priority, keeping active and fit was a priority, everything BUT pursuing my art. Now that I have time in my post retirement years, (no job, no children, more active body) I find time is still breathing down my back, reminding me everyday how short our time is on this planet.
Lately, in my studio, I've been exploring new ways to express how I feel about my world, mostly the natural world. I've been exploring the acrylic medium after many years playing with watercolors. I love both mediums for their various qualities. Watercolor allows for beautiful accidents while acrylic offers depth and richness that I sometimes can't attain with more transparent colors.
As I continue this artistic journey I can feel my work (and myself) evolving. For us artists the journey never seems to go where we envision it (isn't that life?) but it is certainly one that is so rewarding. And it is our personal journey that is so worth making a priority BEFORE time slips away from us.
Happy Creations!
